Pineapple (Ananás comosus . L Merrill) is an herbaceous plant, perennial. Belong to Bromeliaceas, subclass of monocotiledóneas. It is cultivated in tropical and subtropical zones. From level of the sea until 800 m of altitude. It needs rain of 1000 mm to 1500 mm yearly, 26 °C average temperature, relative humidity of 70 % and a minimum photoperiod of 5 hours /day it means 1825 hours/year.

Cut degree : 6 month alter induction. Smooth cayene variety, type Champacais cultivated at 50 % of ripeness. Color is a client choice from 1 (green)
                              until 6 (yellow). Maturation period: 20 to 30 days.

Exporting quality : Maturity, humidity, good shape, eyes well developed, free of decomposition or damage because of Sun, contusions, diseases,
                                  insects, mechanical damage. Base must be well cut, leaves must be the same colour, individual, more or less straight, well adjoined
                                  to the fruit, no more than five each crown. Length of leaves must be not less of 10 cm or more than double size of the fruit. Pineapple
                                  is judged first for its external appearance: must be fresh, clear and brilliant. The moment it reaches maturity leaves of crown must be
                                  of light green colour, crown must be well green and developed.

Packing : The harvest of pineapples must be in perforated plastic boxes. Pineapples are washed and disinfected first, then dried and put in a cardboard
                  box in cross way including crown. The most important thing in packing is uniformity of fruits in boxes, coordinate colour and shape.

Importer countries : USA (buys 24% of world exports), México, Honduras, Chile, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Spain, Holland, Japan , Argentina, Poland.
                                      Anothers: France, England, Canada, Países Bajos.

Characteristic of crop: Fruit require of a dry tropical and humid tropical between 100m and 800 m above the level of the sea. Good drain. Temperatures
                                          between 24 º C and 29 º C. pineapple can endure cold. Luminosity: 1200-1500 light hours per year.
